He obtained his Master Degree in Comparative Law (MCL) from the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 2000 under research scholarship program of NUS, just after obtaining his Master in Management (MM) in 1998 from the Asian Institute of Management in Manila. He is an author of Indonesian Security Interests, a book prepared by him a part of his research dissertation under the supervision of Prof. DR. Gouw Giok Siong, served in English version and published worldwide. He obtained his law degree from the Law Faculty (SH), University of Indonesia in 1992, majoring in commercial law, and obtained a diploma engineering (Dipl. Eng), majoring in building construction from Polytechnic, University of Indonesia.
He started his legal career as a legal counselor and attorney at law from top five law firms in Indonesia, in addition to exposure as an Indonesian legal counsel in a Singaporean law firm when he was doing his legal research at the NUS.
In addition, he has participated in several governmental projects as a regulatory expert. The 2005 projects undertaken are the preparation of presidential regulation for the acceleration of infrastructure projects at the National Planning Agency (Bappenas) and Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affair, facilitated by the World Bank. The 2006 government projects undertaken are the preparation of guidance & standard form of sale and purchase of captive power with the Directorate General of Electricity & Energy Utilization, and research project on the laws and regulations governing TASPEN following the launch of Law on National Social Security System, with The Services Group, Arlington, funded by the World Bank.
He is a member of the Indonesian Bar Association for Legal Consultants (AKHI), Association of Capital Market Legal Consultant (HKHPM), Indonesian Advocate Association (PERADI), as well as Indonesian Association for Administrator of Bankruptcy (Ikatan Kurator & Pengurus Indonesia – IKAPI).
He is one of the founders of Infrastructure Partnership and Knowledge Center (IPKC) and officiates as a secretary. IPKC is established on October 28th 2012 based on the Deed of Establishment Number 23 made before Notary Yendra Wiharja, SH, MH. IPKC is a non-profit organization which activites involve formulating opinions and ideas to develop the infrastructure in Indonesia, at the national as well as international level toward a self-reliance industry characterized by the motto : “coordination for implementation”.
To help establish good quality law education, he has been actively involved as a law lecturer on investment and capital market, business law, infrastructure development on PPP scheme, at several universities i.e. (a) Law Faculty, University of Pelita Harapan; (b) Master in Management; University of Indonusa Esa Unggul, (c) Master in Infrastructure Management, Engineering Faculty, University of Indonesia; (d) Master in Law, University of International Batam.
To help expedite law reform in Indonesia, together with several senior lawyers, he established Yayasan Pengkajian Hukum Indonesia (YPHI) and currently acts as the Legal Research Director of the foundation.
